Unless it's an essential bucket list thing that you really must do there's lots of alternatives to doing the NC500 itself. It does seem to be the first thing that springs to mind when people want to go that bit further in the UK but worth creating your own variations... and maybe mainly based in one location rather than just passing through, if you can find somewhere you can plug in ...
