My Tesla shows car in production. No email received. Timing for delivery?

@AJCH , I only saw a change on the My Tesla page. I did ask my DS, and he confirmed that the car is in production. I wonder about that, though, since isn't this the week that the factory is supposed to be shut down for the retooling?

In any case, there was no change in the delivery window. The car will be done when it's done, and there's not a thing in the world I can do about it. It's not like I'm planning my life around it.

I think you may be lost. This is the TMC forum.

On a side note, I'm in the same boat on My Tesla status in production without an email. If any delay for retooling results in better quality, a week is fine (and I don't have a choice in the case it doesn't improve quality).

Did you get an email saying "car is in production" or just a change in the My Tesla page? For me the status on My Tesla page changed to car in production but I have not received any email yet. I asked my DS about it and she said that your car is in production when you get the email.

I never received any production emails, but did receive my car, so what your DS told you isn't necessarily accurate.

My "My Tesla" page always updated more quickly than the emails from Tesla would indicate, and I don't think I received any automated emails after it started production. My DS is amazing, though, and often updated me a day or two before the My Tesla page updated. I'm scheduled to pick up my S60 on Friday... the My Tesla page still says the car is in transit, but my DS told me it has arrived at the local store and is now being inspected and detailed.

So, at least in my experience, DS>MyTesla>email. Your mileage may vary.

For our S 100D, MyTesla was updated to "in production" several days before we received the "in production" e-mail.

14 hours after the "in production" e-mail, we received the "built" e-mail. And it took several days after that before MyTesla shifted from "in production" to "built and awaiting transport".

The car should have reached the Service Center two days ago. Checked with our DS late yesterday, and they didn't know when we would be able to get the car. A few hours later, received notification from FedEx that a package was being shipped overnight with delivery this morning from Tesla - likely the paperwork for purchasing the car (in Texas), though I haven't received any phone call, e-mail or notice on MyTesla about the package that was shipped (FedEx sends us e-mails whenever a package enters their system for delivery at our house).

MyTesla is still showing the car has been "built and is in transit from the factory".

Is there ANY consistency with email notification over the process? I've ordered my replacement Model S and other than the confirmation of order I haven't seen any emails although I do see that a VIN has been assigned. For my first one, I didn't get any notifications. Is there something on the website that has to be toggled/checked in order for it to happen, or perhaps is it dependent upon which country it's getting delivered to?

I don’t mean to be condescending - did you, have you checked your JUNK email? That’s where my initial email notices from Tesla first showed up. Your Delivery Specialist emails might end up there too.

There is no rhyme or reason to the madness that is Tesla’s communication system. I found myself continuously triangulating between the receipt of corporate Tesla emails, my My Tesla page and emails from my Delivery Specialist. My DS was very prompt in returning my emails, but there were times when my My Tesla page would update sooner than I would receive Tesla emails or emails from my DS. There were other times when the reverse would be true.

Be patient, and enjoy the pleasant agony of waiting. I’m taking delivery of my car today, exactly 42 days since first placing my order for my bespoke Tesla Model S.

Enjoy!

We ordered at end of 4th qtr (Calif) and didn't see many emails/changes to MyTesla until things started progressing. To answer your question, I don't believe there is anything to do other than make sure to check emails and MyTesla. The point about making sure any emails doesn't go to spam is a good one. Some of the delay between our emails and MyTesla page I suspect also was due to the work schedule of the people handing our purchase. That said we had a lengthy wait from Vin Assignment to going to Preparing for Production. Depending on where you are located and when your order is received will affect your production time. Also which model you ordered to some degree. Here in the states West coast people tended to not see much movement at the beginning of the quarter. Prepping of overseas orders appear to be given first priority as well as the high end vehicles. And then as far as the US is concerned they tend to push out cars further east first. Not sure where Canadian orders fall into the scheme of things.

A good place to get an idea of who, what, where and when orders are happening is the quarterly spreadsheets being maintained here on the forum. I didn't notice your username listed in the 2017 Jan/Feb/March or April/May/June ones so maybe you don't know about it. Not required you participate but nice if you do. It does help everyone see how the orders are progressing and is kind of fun to check in on. Just add your order and any updates to the appropriate quarter on spreadsheet (based on Advised delivery timeframe). Here's the thread post about it with link to it:

Model S Delivery Update

Kind of limited sampling for Canadian orders. I'm only seeing 2 undelivered Canadian orders listed in the current 2 timeframes: a 60D (CA/ON/Toronto) and a P100D (CA/BC/Vancouver). There was a P100DL (CA/AB/Calgary) delivered in February. There were probably more but people didn't post to the sheet.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I do regularly check junk mail as well - just in case something unforeseen occurs. I know some people get notifications regularly and in a timely fashion, so was wondering if there was something I had missed. I'll handle the wait, but after renting a Hyundai Tucson I REALLY miss my MS.

Overall, I'm okay with the presumed delivery timeframe - end of April, early May. I think it was 3+ months last year, so I suspect that sales may have dropped in anticipation of the Model 3.

I'll update the delivery sheet shortly. Thanks for your feedback.

In addressing the union issue and in response to the long hours the employees been putting in, Musk recently said they added a 3rd shift to the production line so I'm guessing they are going full speed now at the factory.

Sorry, but I'm having difficulty locating that spreadsheet. Any idea where the associated thread is?

Thanks

Sorry, thought the link worked. Here's a direct link to just the spreadsheet: Model S Order & Delivery 2017

The thread with the spreadsheet link can be found at Tesla Motors Forum > Model S > Model S: Ordering, Production, Delivery > Model S Delivery Update. It's a sticky at the top of the section and the link is in the second post there on Page 1 of the thread.

Thanks mate. The previous link was something else.
