Does anyone else have an unusual "design" or marking on the master window switch for the passenger side window? Here is a photo: None of my friends who own the Model S have this, and no one at Tesla I have spoken to has seen this.
It looks like whoever makes these switches for Tesla uses a foil process that wraps around the plastic button to apply the graphic. Sometimes if there is a small crack in the foil when its applied and the switch gets hot, for example in a closed car in the sun on a hot day, the foil can shrink or move and you get this result. Would be surprised if it was like this when new but it may have been missed. Take it back and ask for a new switch.
The foil thing seems pleasible, but maybe some solvent got spilled on it. At manufacturer, at assembly of the car, even during ownership?
Yeah the film has got hot and expanded. How much is the replacement part I wonder? just one switch or the whole panel...
That is the foil separating from the hard plastic part it's covering. I had this happen in an old Touareg and they have to replace the entire part. Now, after may years in production, there are "stickers" that you can buy to replace the foil that wears away. With Model S, I believe they replace the entire cluster including window and mirror controls.
