National Drive Electric Events Sept 14 - 22, 2019

I'll be displaying my car at the RI EV event at Roger Williams Park on 9/22. So far, it looks like there will be 13 vehicles, which include 4 Model 3.

I may be there, too, but I'm not certain of that. I'll be on a business trip in France next week, and I return on Saturday the 21st, so I may be completely zoned out on Sunday the 22nd and decide to stay home. If I'm there, it'll be with my white/white Model 3.

I know it's sort of off subject, but K1 Speed sent me an email yesterday offering a $15 drive for registered owners and three friends of any full electric vehicle. The offer is from September 16 through the September 22. If you have never driven their electric carts they are a lot of fun. I don't have anything to do with them except being a customer and just thought I would put it out there for those that might have been curious about the carts and never tried them. At least they are a business that is promoting National Drive Electric week. If you are interested just check out their website.

Since Model Xs are generally family cars (with a number of young kids) it's possible that the mom's are busy taking the kids around, running weekend errands, so little time to attend or display their car. I know in my area I've heard how a lot of moms are driving MXs. Would be nice to see a Tesla Mom's group show up together at these events and show other potential MX moms how handy the car can be for them and things they have bought to accessorize their car.

Just checked our local event and only 2 MXs at the event we'll be attending as of this morning. Decent number of MSs. The Model 3 number really shot up however. Imagine every color and combination will be there. Positive we'll see a lot of mods out there.

Having handouts or signage (some people do even foamboard signs like 24x36 near their cars) I think is helpful and peaks people's interest in asking further questions. If you're a dog owner, definitely mention how it is taking your dog with you on errands or trips. Lots of dog owners out there.

Just a reminder from the email I received yesterday from the organizers out here. Consider bringing water bottles, sunglasses, hat and sunscreen. And they also mentioned a folding chair which I thought was a good suggestion so you can sit outside your car. Might also want to think about a USB stick for some background music (especially if you demo the sound system with the immersive) and a handout with some useful links to resources for your favorite products or sites like Plugshare but not forgetting to include TMC!

Set a special seating profile just for the Event so you don't have someone changing yours.

Not surprising, since Tesla has put more EVs on the road than all other car companies combined.

It's a bit misleading to quote the base price and the range of the LR battery without clarifying. Tesla does this. If you/they are going to put both range and price on the same page, it's more honest to state that LR is an option that costs more. Example: "Price starting at $35,000 with 210 miles of range [or whatever the number is]. 310 mile range available as an option at additional cost."

Portage in the North west, Notre Dame in the North east and Carmel in the south.

So far Model 3 owners have signed up but not Model S or X

Model X is always a great attention grabber. Especially with the light and music show.

Indiana needs to build support for EVs and to counter legislative obstacles.

The Portage event is close to the Illinois state line if any people want to do a short road trip from Illinois to attend.

The Notre Dame event is close to Michigan border if any people want to do a short road trip to the event.

Parked my M3 SR+ at an EV event, and a firefighter stopped by, said he was a Vehicle Extraction Specialist or Technician, or some such thing, and wanted to know where the battery isolate/power cutoff switch was. I am pretty familiar with the vehicle, and have opened most of the easily accessible areas both front and rear, and I haven't seen this switch. Does it exist? He says it would be marked with a fireman helmet sticker. Searched the manual, didn't find anything. Anyone know if this switch exists, and if so, where it is located?

Pretty sure when you open the frunk, the orange tag near the washer fluid spout marks the cutoff.

Our event extremely successful, lots of model 3, x and s giving test drives around a short course. I personally gave 31in my 3. Many volt/Prius owners looking to go full electric. At least 10 were going to Tesla right after the event to purchase and get in on 2 years free charging. Overall I heard over 1200 test drive in electric vehicles including Kia, jags, bmw, mini coops, Hondas. Great event.
