Nav display map orientation?

Is there a way to set the nav display so the car icon is always pointing toward the direction you're driving, rather than having the map oriented with north at the top? I can move it around with my fingers, but it snaps back after about 20-30 seconds. I find that very irritating, and I can't find anywhere in the settings to change it.

Don’t you just press the compass icon and it does that?

Pretty sure I was able to do this with the test drive I did while waiting my model Y.

Except that icon disappears since v11. You need to touch the map... maybe double tap, then the icons display. Thanks v11... you suck.

This does not work. Double tapping does not work I can move it around with my fingers, but it snaps back after about 20-30 seconds after I ENTER A DESTINATION.

You want heading up (see @Knightshade 's post in post #2. I dont know about double tapping, but dragging the map around wont stay in any orientation.

I like the map to display with my car always heading up the screen, and the map itself rotating, and the heading up icon does that.

To clarify... the icons for changing this setting automatically *hide*. You need to touch or double touch the map, then the icons will display again. THEN you need to toggle the compass icon to Heading Up, as shown above in the manual page posted by @Knightshade.

I'm sure my navigation now defaults to north up which I don't like.
Is there a setting to keep it in the direction you are driving?

I generally like the driving direction to be "up" on the screen with the map rotating "under" the arrow/pointer, but different people visualize things differently and would prefer the map to be stationary/conventional view (i.e., North "up".)

I suppose if you're really accustomed to using a conventional map while driving, you might prefer the "fixed" map display?

I like North up, but wife likes it the other way. For me, it just makes sense for the car to follow the route, rather than for the route to lead the car. It’s nice to have choices.
