I set my destination as the Richfield supercharger, the trip shows a distance og 610 miles, what does the 491 miles in the Richfield supercharger represent?

All of my GPS systems do that. Distance is 'as the crow flies' until you calculate a route. Then it shows road miles.

This is my understanding as well. Never really checked it, but that's how it tends to behave.

this. it's pretty stupid.

Yes, it is. I can hardly wait for the opening of the anticipated Bishop CA Supercharger some time in the next 12 months. Bishop is about 90 miles from our house as the crow flies. However, there is this large granite rock in the middle. Depending upon the season, the real mileage is 240 if Tioga Road is open through Yosemite (about a 5 1/2 hour drive) or 350 miles in a big "U" through Bakersfield, Mojave and Lone Pine--about 7 1/2 hours.

I wonder how many out-of-towners might be fooled by the way the distance listing appears on the screen.
