A few weeks ago I updated to 2021.44.30.21. After the update completed I went for a short drive and was disappointed that it made several new mistakes. When I got home I checked the update screen to see that it had updated and noticed that it was downloading a Navigation update. The next drive I took seemed to go better so the nav data apparently did make a difference.
I didn't request or approve the nav data update, it happened automatically and it got me thinking. I don't know how often these updates occur, but it could certainly explain how the system magically improves (or gets worse) despite using the same software.
