First things first: You likely WILL NOT GET TO KEEP THE LUDICROUS UPGRADE.

Tesla are jerks, and anything that is a software upgrade is likely to be stripped out by them remotely when the car transfers to a new owner's account. So don't pay extra for that, you and the previous owner are about to lose that money. Tesla says "thanks for that free money" for the feature rental.

This is untrue. It only gets stripped if it's traded or sold back to Tesla. If it goes from private seller to private seller without ever getting traded back into Tesla, it does not get stripped.

And yet there are stories about private sale transfers losing the FSD after the transfer. Anything that is a software feature can be removed at any time they want, remotely.

They can also limit the battery range remotely if they decide that "Tesla made a mistake" and decide to correct it - oh but you can have that back if you just give us $4500.

Yes that can happen, I was one of the two that it happened to. The ONLY reason it got fixed was that Tesla got embarrassed in the media. They also do NOT have to physically take possession of a vehicle to strip the supercharging from it, if it goes near an auction they can do it remotely as well.
