Need USB Stick Advice for Audio

I have a new, high-quality, brand-name USB stick that constantly takes > 10 minutes to initialize after starting up the car. I usually get frustrated and switch to listening to music from my phone before the music on USB can be played in the car. Super super disappointed in the USB music experience overall. Was a problem in the 7.x software and continues to be a problem in the 8.x software.
