in UK it is "Commando" socket, limited up to 32 amps (7.3 kw) and has blue round plug.Hello all,
Where to get the nema 14-50 adapter for UMC in the UK. I was not able to find one in the Tesla store. Only adapter for mobile 7kw charging is the blue adapter in Tesla store.
Got it. Thanksin UK it is "Commando" socket, limited up to 32 amps (7.3 kw) and has blue round plug.
the right adapter will work with tesla UMC as well
NEMA 14-50 is USA standard (it literally stands as US "National Electrical Manufacturers Association")
you will not have many options for that in UK
no worries.Got it. Thanks
Alright. The landlord is getting it installed for me by an electrician.no worries.
Once your power circuit allows it, comando socket should be installed by competent electrician, it would cost you up to 300 gbp I would presume. although socket itself is cheap + adaptor.
You need to make sure you know precisely what is being installed, as the adapter will vary. It sounds like they’re probably installing a Commando socket, however is it a 16A or 32A socket? They are different sizes and you’ll need to get the correct adapter.Alright. The landlord is getting it installed for me by an electrician.
Okay. I have told them 32amps. Will verify before installation. ThanksYou need to make sure you know precisely what is being installed, as the adapter will vary. Great to know. The electrician is the same guy who does the yearly check and maintenance. For safety and legality you landlord needs to be aware that the regulations for installing a commando socket for "general use" and one which is intended for vehicle charging are different. The electrician requires to be instructed accordingly. From the user's perspective you can't tell by just looking at the socket on the wall.
Good idea. Any 32amp commando installation will actually work for charging the difference is related to safety features. The bad news is that the install will cost more ... hopefully your landlord will be OK with that and not withdraw the offer of the free install.Great to know. Will specifically instruct them that it has to be for EV specifically. Hopefully the electrician knows what he is doing

Hmm. At the moment I’m not sure how much landlord is ready to shell out. If it crosses their budget, I will chip in the difference.Good idea. Since it’s rented, didn’t want to get wall charger installed. I presumed commando socket total installation would be less than wall charger and installation. To the point where installing a EV Wall Charger might be "about same" ... and arguablymight be a better solution
Without wanting to sound like a Debby downer, unless the electrician has undertaken the EVSE installation course, it’s unlikely they’ll have any idea about the safety requirements and will simply install a bog standard commando socket. How much that bothers you (or your landlord?) is down to you!Great to know. The electrician is the same guy who does the yearly check and maintenance.
