NEMA 14-50 outlet shows only 232v should I be concerned?

As the title indicates, when I used a multimeter to check my outlet it only registers 232v. Is this normal? It's on a 50 amp breaker in a 200 amp box with 6 guage wire.

Thank you! I knew there would be some fluctuations but I'm used to seeing them higher than the rated voltage.

The distance is just about 6 for from the box.

Depends on what you started with. The delta of what you started with unloaded compared with voltage under load is more telling. Likely normal. 240 to 232 is fine.

Yeah, a few percent drop is fine. It's more if you see variance as it's used or over time (like during the day as other loads are in use).

I've seen variation from less than 230 to 241 or 242.

I get 248 volts which forces my amps down to 47, presumably to not exceed the max kW of the charger.

Generally less that a 5% voltage drop at max load is acceptable.
If you're getting 232V at zero load ;eg multimeter) then that's what you're getting from the grid.

With a 6' (2m) run from your meter box you should get very little voltage drop at load, unless the wiring gauge is too thin.

I have a 40m (120') run from my meterbox to garage (curse it) so can only charge at 25A 240V on a single phase HPWC that could do up to 40A. About 7kW.

I've added a 32A three phase 5 pin plug near the meter box which I can use with an adapter to give 12kW just in case I ever need faster speed.
