Dangerous thinking by SilverString. Please do not use use extensions cords for charging, especially ones that are undersized and can burn your house down.

The car will sense a voltage drop when using an extension cord (probably if using incorrectly-sized wiring as well) and will drop the charging amps accordingly. This is a safeguard against burning your house down. I'm not sure if all EVs do this, but I know Tesla does.

This doesn't mean you should be reckless, but it's nice knowing that the car is smart enough to mitigate unscrupulous users.

Except that it is not reckless and charges at a steady 240/32A from 10 to 90% with zero heat at any point, anywhere. But never mind the facts, this has become a fear mongering thread. No need to continue.
