Never get option to parallel park?

I watched it more closely while driving in traffic and at lights last night. The P became available at every stop light, even when I was still in drive. I find it interesting it doesn't only become available when in park or reverse.

From what I understand, the way it works is that once you are going below a certain speed, it will automatically scan for a spot. That is why there are so many false positives at stop lights.

I get it all the time while driving in slow commuter traffic, lol
