At least they kept the one display in front of the driver. That was the reason, other than size, that I went with the S rather than 3. Not sure about the steering wheel. Have bad memories from the early 80’s as a dumb kid cutting down a steering wheel to made one like Knight Rider. Did not work out well. I am not crazy about the flat bottom ones you get in some Audi’s. When you turn the steering wheel you expect it to be in the same place. Maybe Elon thinks steering wheels are going to be less important as we move along?

Love most of it. But what's the deal with the flight yoke for a steering wheel?

    Overall looks great

3rd screen in the back a surprise.

Agreed with the steering wheel comment - also looks to be more than just the scroll wheel for controls.

Definitely a few common parts and design echos to the 3/Y interior.

For that steering wheel to work, there must be a speed dependent dynamic steering/turn ratio. So the steering wheel never turns that much.

Steering wheel is not an option.

$10k price increase... People who placed those $100 bets still thinking they're gonna get the old price honored? ;)

Was just about to post the design studio link.

Cleaner dash. No visible vents, similar to Y and 3. New screen probably means no future yellowing issues. I wonder if IC screen has also been updated to a non-yellowing version.

It all looks good to me, except that steering wheel. Not a fan.

What's the difference between Plaid and Plaid+, apart from some text and 1020 vs 1100hp.

    Ah ok 390mi v 520+ mi.
And both show 0-60 as sub 1.99.

I dont see how they can manufacture a steering wheel like that. For safety reasons, you have to be able to hand over hand turn in a circle. Unless otherwise mentioned the wheel is full lock at a fraction of the rotation which would require you to learn have to drive again.

edited to show this as opinion

Biggest difference I see is range. Will likely be a little faster 0-60 as well.

My speculation is that "plaid+" will be the 4680 battery pack to enable the significant extra range and minor performance improvement

You sure about that? Design studio has delivery times of March for base and regular plaid versions.

Why would they add pictures in the design studio if they can't sell it?

Missing classic door handles - looks like they're going with Model 3 version.
I wonder if the autopilot stalk will also get moved (ala 3/Y).

    Door pockets are nice.
    Dual phone dock is nice.
Will be interesting to see how much storage is in center console - do I still get 4 cup holders.

Can't see them bringing that steering wheel to market.

Does it come with a new MCU? Can't run The Witcher on an Atom.

Love it overall. Don't love the brown wood with the white interior. Doesn't look right with all the black and white.

The more I look at it, the more it's like a Model 3.
No more vents, no more door handles, no more vertical screen...
About the only concession to make it superior to the model 3 is the driver's display (and the gimmicky rear display.)
