We were about to overtake some cyclists when one briefly swerved towards the car - looked like they were avoiding something in the road. The car sounded the horn - it was a short beep but enough to warn the cyclist. It didn't save a clip. We were travelling at about 20mph at the time.

We had the windows down and there was no other traffic around, so definitely our car. The car does not have the PWS speaker installed.

Anyone had experience of this before, or know any cyclists who are brave enough to help try to reproduce this?

I was thinking if it works with cyclists, it probably would work with pedestrians as well. Would be easy enough to test in a controlled manner by having an accomplice--facing the car for safety--step out into the travel lane as the car approaches at low speed (and under close supervision of course!) and see if you can trigger the honk.

I assume that the car was not actually in autopilot at the time (you did say that you were getting ready to overtake).
