New battery patent war? BASF vs Umicore

    As rabar10 says, it has little to no implications for Tesla who uses a totally different chemistry. It has implications for all the upcoming EVs using LG Chem's or in-house NMC chemistry, including the next-gen Leaf and GM's Bolt.

    Worse case scenario is an injunction on all batteries using the chemistry, most likely case is some extra cost in licensing based on a settlement.
