New Camera Sensors for AP

Listening to Mobileye's CES talk from last year, it appears Amnon discusses expected improvements in camera sensors that should arrive in 2019 and 2020. I'm assuming Tesla will adopt these but I am curious if anyone else knows more about the development curve for new camera sensors? Maybe this is the wrong forum on this site for this question, if so please let me know where to post.

Actually, Tesla is not using MobileEye anymore, the new AP2 is an in-house solution and even AP1 algorithms got a major change to count less on the camera to use more the front radar with the 8.0 update.

Thanks, I'm aware that Tesla is no longer using mobileye. I'm guessing though that if there is a major improvement coming up from the big manufacturers of sensors that Tesla will adopt that tech when it's ready. Similar to how most smartphones adopt Sony's latest camera sensor when they're refreshed. That's why I'm curious about the upgrades Amnon expects from the major suppliers.

I see your point, yes, that can definitely happen, the only thing that may be in the way for MobileEye is the way they trashed Elon when the partnership ended. Actually, quite unusual for a supplier to publicly criticize a manufacturer like this.
