New car - what's this orange sticker?

Hi

My buddy just collected his new M3P today. He curbed the tyre within 30 minutes so that must be a record.

Anyway, I was showing him the frunk and I noticed this label near the washer bottle filler - it seems to indicate a tool has been left inside - is that what it is?

Pretty sure it's a label advising that it's a high voltage wire attached to it, yours will just be tucked inside the access panel

It an indicator label for the rescue workers to know the safest/correct place to cut the High Voltage cable and isolate the car in the event of an accident. Should be there and visible (IMHO).

Well yes, in hindsight it's obvious, but I'm a bit slow!

Definitely worth getting used to popping the access panel off/on and knowing where to go for battery connection, checking air intake vent for HVAC, watching out for general crap in there that needs cleaning out etc.

I still find it bonkers that you pop that panel off and try really hard to find something mechanical, but it’s a real struggle !

The loop is probably 12v. It only needs to operate the contactors for the HV. Anyone want to test the theory?

Yes. Part of Tesla's continuous safety improvement. Inside, you will find a fireman and a pair of bolt cutters.

It seems common that this label and connection to the high voltage cable is tucked away in a lot of pictures. My MY was delivered with it hidden and the mobile tech pulled it out during the Homelink installation.
