New changes to Model S

I'm curious what they will "stock" in the showrooms: yoke or wheel versions. My gut says yoke, at least at first. But, over time, I suspect it'll be the wheel (least disruptive).

I think yoke so people will order with yoke and Tesla can make 700 for the round wheel swap later

You can have your calipers powder coated for $150-$200, no need to buy a full set if you want to save a few $$$.

Yeah but taking my car and having them remove everything and powder coat them and then reinstall would take longer than just swapping them. Plus with labor no way it is $200.

What happened to the higher thermal capability calipers? Is the car coming with both now? How can we check to ensure our cars are delivered with these new 'pads' at time of delivery??

I think it’s really clear that this is the refresh of the refresh of the refresh.

It’s basically just like hitting “refresh” in your browser…. makes a request for fresh info, but just gives you the same old stuff. Until one day it doesn’t!!

Front calipers look the same, but the rear calipers are larger for sure. Easily seen when toggling between dual motor and tri motor on the Model S page.

Yeah the pictures tell a different story. Guess we won't know till they're in the wild, and even then - it could be the shenanigans they're pulling with the Model Y, with a caliper cover, for the Model Y Performance.

Round steering wheel 16gb and updated brakes were my reason for waiting to order. I believe it said higher thermal capacity calipers.

Just don't take delivery till they confirm it's a "new" Plaid with the upgraded brakes. We won't know anything about calipers till release, as is the Tesla way.

I have never seen an owner complain that they did not like their Tesla because it had insufficient rear brake thermal capacity.

Mostly only see complaints about brake feel, compared to German production set up for Autobahn use.

I don't think anyone, on the forum at least, has taken delivery of a 2023 Model S yet. They shut down the line for most of January for retooling, whatever that means, hoping it means HW4
