New Feature: access to Event Data Recorder (EDR)

The cables are sure expensive...does Tesla Service provide this as a service?

Good question. I guess it would be charged at the equivalent of per service hour plus fees for equipment usage. Any which way it's not going to be cheap. I just wonder exactly what is in the cable to make it so expensive? If it's just a connector and wires, it's certainly not justifiable - unless you care to turn it into a business.
For those that might be thinking of buying the needed cables for accessing the EDR, it will cost you about $450 for the ones just for your specific model. $250 for the CAN to USB adapter and $200 for either of the two connection cables (the In-Vehicle one or the Direct-to-module one).

you only need pay $250 or so to buy peak USB-CAN, and home-made other cables by yourself. see what I did on a 2018 model S RCM module.

airbag pinout --> obd --> DB9 --> peak USB-CAN-laptop

To access from whole vehicle, just use X437A-OBD adaptor cable --> DB9 --> peak USB-CAN-laptop

good luck!
