New FWD switch design

The interior switch for my right FWD broke about 6 weeks or so ago.

Service Centre finally got one in last week and called me in today to replace it.

Upon opening it they realised it is a whole new design, which is better in my opinion - less likely to break, easier for a novice to understand.

Now fitted as per photo, and they are ordering another one to put onto the other side to match.

P.S. - For those wondering what broke: A small piece of black plastic (a left side hinge lug) internal to the switch broke and fell out. This meant that it still worked, but if you pulled on the left hand side of switch instead of central or right then the switch face became unclipped on the left. Only a matter of time before it failed completely.

Is there a tactile feel when you press on it? Or is it more touch sensitive button?

I think the old design is harder to open the door accidentally. Doesn't this design make it easier to open?

Shallow, but definite click. Not touch sensitive.

I wonder if we could get this changed out on both voluntary? Mine feels like it's going to fall off.

Nice. Much more intuitive. My guests often have no clue how to open or close the FWD on the current switch.

You have to lift or press the *bottom* part of the silver ring. The new design makes SO MUCH more sense. I have to explain it to the passengers as it is not clear at all.

That is definitely an improvement. Had no idea how to use that until played with the switches on my demo X. It looks like you should press the black part, but you pull the bottom. New one looks great. This was on a car made in March, so definitely a recent change.

That definitely looks easier to understand. I'm getting our X in about 2 weeks and built at start of April so hopefully this is part of the new builds!

Totally agree. Nobody seems to know how to open/close the FWD without experience/practice.

Agree will all, it's much better. But I'd still enable child protection that disables it, so only I control when FWD's can open.

The new design does seem like it could result inadvertent opening of the door pretty easily. This would be difficult to do unintentionally with the original design. (both seem equally conductive to inadvertent closings)

I want to switch mine out. Guests have absolutely no clue how to open doors.

I have so much trouble explaining to guests how to open or close the falcon wing doors. It's gotten to the point where most of the time I just do it for them on the touchscreen. Maybe I'm not doing a good job of explaining it to people? For anyone that doesn't have trouble explaining how to operate the original falcon wing door switches to guests, how do you explain it?
