Incorrect- they did all of the option unbundling in late July. They allowed people to keep their current options and prices I think till almost the end of the year

Right. I guess I was more interested in delivery dates, whereas you're correct, the ordering process itself changed at the end of July.

Just switched to the new gray went to the showroom and the new has a lot more flake similar to the multicoat white.
The new grey does looks sharp . . . almost exact color as on a BMW 335I that I drove for 6 years. IMHO though, the old grey is (was) more unique and mesmerizing. It tied for the 2nd most popular Tesla color (source: Revealing the Most Popular Tesla Model S Configurations - TESLARATI.com). It's a shame it's no longer available . . . Congratulations to all you "limited edition" dolphin grey owners out there.
These two shots are just gorgeous and really show off the color well. We just placed our order the day after Dolphin Grey was discontinued, so I'm glad the color looks so good in the real world.

This new color also reminds me of the Steel Grey BMW produced on the E46 M3:

Interesting. Everyone's always talking about their "Dolphin Grey," and that wasn't even the name? I guess they should have been saying "Shark Grey" instead.

just got a call from Tesla and they told me that the Tiburon Grey color that I selected for my Model S reservation (07/09/14) has been discontinued and they are no longer able to get it.They wanted me to choose another color...i told them to get back to me with a resolution. Anyone else have a current reservation and receive a call?? Just curious

For the record, it was "Dolphin" When I got my car 18 months ago, I think they must have changed it at some point.
The old grey must have been the "white black".
I think this may be a sinister plot to get people to pony up for the extra $10k for the off menu brighter colors a la Franz electric blue...

I also got the call from Tesla on Aug 6 letting me know that the old grey was no longer available. I had actually called Tesla a couple of weeks ago, when the new color was announced, to let them know that I still wanted the old Tiburon Grey. They confirmed that with me. Apparently the paint situation has changed since then. I was told that they could no longer get the Tiburon Grey from their supplier.
They told me that I could choose another color with no effect on my current estimated delivery date of Sep 12. She also offered to email me a picture of the new grey color. It was one of the photos that are already posted here on TMC.
I went with the new Steel Grey. It looks great, but is darker than I would have preferred. I'm sure I will be happy with it when I see it.

If you picked the grey wheels make sure you take a look at them on the new color. When I had the choice to pick old or new grey I chose the new. Later viewing the mock ups I did not like how the grey wheels looked on the new grey compared to silver wheels on the new grey. Had them switched via my sales specialist/DS
What kind of resolution are you hoping for? It sounds like they are asking you for a resolution.
Tesla rep explained to me that she will speak to her superior and see if they can get me the original color I chose.....or they are also looking at current inventory to see if they have one....its paint,don't see any reason y they can't get it anymore.....they must've gotten a great deal on the new steel grey paint
