New here, how do I reply to someone privately?

Hello, I'm new here and I can't figure out how to reply to someone privately. I put something up for sale on the marketplace forum and I want to be able to work out logistics without putting private contact info in the public forum. I see references to private messages here and there, but can't find the actual option to start a conversation. Am I just not finding it or is there maybe a restriction on new accounts or some other problem?

have them PM you. New users are not able to send PMs until they have some activity on the site, to help prevent scams (which happen). Note that I am a volunteer moderator so am not able to unlock this or anything. Tell the person to PM you and you will be able to respond.

How long does a new user has to wait before he/she can have PM or how much activities?
