Not a fan of the ultralow range option and when add $4,000 Basic Autopilot, the price difference to the SR+ is almost nothing.

You get the full incentive buying the SR+ anyways, so would be stupid to pay so much for the standard range. My guess is, the standard range is there mainly to be qualified for the incentive as SR+ is listed as a 6600 option on top of the SR.

That's the point; you're supposed to buy the SR Plus. The SR only exists as a technicality to provide government incentives to some of the higher spec vehicles. The low range SR used to be an "off-menu" option, but apparently the Canadian government wasn't a fan of it being hidden, so there is now a check-box on the order menu for compliance.

No. It’s been said multiple times it cannot be unlocked.

Edit: at least, it’s not unlockable via Tesla.
