New Model 3 12V Battery fitting Insurance tracking Box

Hi there,

I just received my new 2022 Model 3. As I havent had a car since 2011, the only Insurance I was able to get was one with a tracker box installed.
The problem is, the installer was unable to figure out how to install the tracker to the new 12v battery in the 2022 Model.

I know it's a long shot, but does anybody have any ideas or experience? My 7 day temporary insurance has expired, and they refuse to send me a new disc until the box is installed, meaning my brand-new Model 3 now sits in the driveway and cant be used. Im a little frustrated as I mentioned it's a Tesla Model 3 to them multiple times, and they ensured me that the box can be fitted. Apparently, the new 2022 Model 3 has a different battery to all other previous Tesla.

The system will be designed to support 12v accessories no matter what it says on the battery.
The manual sort of says otherwise, in that devices, like inverters, have to be able to support 16v. (Which apparently few do.) Also, the trailer harness currently doesn't supply 12v to the trailer for an aux-battery as it would destroy it by charging it to 16v. (There is rumor that Tesla will be making an adapter/regulator available to allow the trailer harness to supply 12v to the trailer, but I haven't seen any concrete proof of that.)

No, Tesla had to change some of the part on the M3 / MY to support the new 16v system, e.g. the windscreen washer pump is new.

The issue for the black box is two fold. One can it support 16v - which it probably can as the device with use some form of voltage regulator to step it down to 5v or 3.3v and they can normally accept quite a wide input voltage range. But secondly there is the connection problem as it doesn't look easy to just connect in a couple of ring connectors as they normally would do on a 12v car battery.

I wonder if they can use the ODBII port inside the cabin for a permanent feed instead.
