I put 41 years in as a police officer (first 20 yrs, NYPD, retired lt., 2nd 20 yrs chief of police Cape Cod town). An EV such as the MY would make a fine police vehicle when used properly. Perfect for admin purposes. Likely fine for a small town dept as a patrol vehicle, especially with the AWD version of the vehicle (snow ya know!).
Speaking with my former Cape Cod dept's current chief of police about this very issue. Just requires a bit of preparation prior to procuring the EV and some staff training on how to ensure the EVs remain charged.
