hmmm I was assigned a VIN on the 20th. I wonder if that made the cutoff. Any idea how long from production date to VIN notification usually?

Build quality is honestly good at least on my car. I had very few, all minor issues. Many less gripes than my friend who had a 16xxx or so VIN.

I did have some fingerprints around the passenger side visor. Right side back seat button did not always make the seat go forward. Couple of minor paint blemishes...

White paint was generally fine, other than a couple places where it appeared they might have tried to touch up before delivery. I didn't love these, but really they were pretty minor in the scheme of things and it wasn't anything I was going to reject the car for. And I spent an hour going over the car...

Picked up our MY performance today and can confirm #39### has the new tail lights. In my opinion this change was primarily for the euro compliance but Also for a spot on accurate fit to the body vs what I have seen from other older shipments. From power door to trunk these fit Perfect and flush and blend with the panels. Our Midnight grey was top to bottom perfect not an issue. Love this car!

He should call someone else then as he is wrong. Completely new light assembly.

Yup. I was being sarcastic in my post. I texted my friend asking for the Tesla rep to push a software update to darken my MS tail lights and change the bulbs.

I’ve always been a fan of orange rear turn signals (I had a 1963 VW Bug back in the 1980’s and got the “euro” rear lenses to have orange turn signals at the top, haha!!)

I’ll try to get Tesla to swap for free (maybe they’ll have a TSB? One can always wish, haha!!), but if these things will “only” be about $100 each, and assuming the wiring is the same, I’m buying them.

I have the old ones (late July build) but the fit is pretty dang good. Not nearly as bad as a lot of the ones I’ve seen online. Seems like they’ve been getting better for a while.

When should we expect the aftermarket retrofit? Hopefully it will be just plug and play with a new LED string.

I would change mine to amber in a heartbeat, if there's an aftermarket or even better, official kit.

I asked my service advisor about a retrofit, so stay tuned. I am in the San Francisco Bay area so close enough to Fremont that somebody could pop over to grab a pair if necessary.
