I've been wondering for a while now if folks might be interested in setting up a drive on the new Oakland Bay Bridge when it opens (hopefully) on Labor Day. I think that would be an awesome sight to see a whole lot of EVs on the bridge's first day! Maybe we could even invite Nissan Leafs and any other EVs along. It would certainly get lots of news coverage!
The new policy where you can do anything you want to your pack and be within warranty also sets up for swapping.
...and that's assuming that the bridge will in fact open on Labor Day weekend..no sure thing at this point.
Anyone who goes to Burningman and stays for the whole time won't be able to make it on Labor day. I don't know the overlap between burners and Tesla owners, but it's definitely not zero. Tesla parked a mockup of the roadster near the man in 2007 (although it looked less impressive when it was covered in dust). And the "google doodle" originated as kind of an "out of office" announcement when most of the early staff took the week off and went to burningman.
Bay Bridge rod troubles extend to base - SFGate Lots of stuff going wrong with the building of the bridge, so I bet it will be delayed past Labor Day. I also don't want to be driving my Model S over it when it CRACKS...
I'd be up to do this! I think it would be cool to see a bunch of Teslas going over the bridge on opening day. I'll make sure to check in on this thread as it gets closer.
I'm hearing that the opening might be delayed until December, but then again, maybe not... Who knows!
Now the Labor Day opening is back on! However, there's a twist. It is scheduled to open at 5:00am on Tuesday, the day after Labor Day... No, I don't want to be there when it opens at 5:00am. Maybe there will be a special event the next weekend?
Bay bridge closes tonight at 8pm, re-opens 5am Tuesday at the latest, it could open earlier if all the work is done. http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_23964156/bay-bridge-closure-are-you-ready
According to twitter, there will be 12 model s's waiting to drive across. Are these owners or tesla employees? - - - Updated - - - link

Wow. Beautiful Awesome Great! You gotta love that Bay Area. Tesla might not really need any more 'local' press, but that story will be global for a day. Nice
I think that photo is copyright protected. Even if you can snatch it, probably not too nice to do so.
