Hi Guys, I'm new to Tesla and this forum, so apologies in advance if I'm in the wrong place (hopefully not).
I'm based in the UK (near Cambridge) and am about to receive my first Tesla next Saturday 1st September - a 75D in Midnight Silver Metallic, with White Premium interior and 5 seat configuration. Needless to say I'm VERY excited!!
I'm planning to have a vinyl wrap Chrome Delete carried out in Satin Black and have the standard 20" Silver Slipstream wheels satin black powder coated. I've found two companies that can do this locally t me, and will visit them with the car before going ahead, but I'm slightly nervous as I don't think they've worked on Tesla's before (don't seem to be many UK companies that have). All i know about these processes has come from forums and Youtube, but I still have a few questions I hope you can help me with:
Chrome Delete
1. I plan to get all of the chrome (other than the front & rear 'T' logos) vinyl wrapped i.e. bonnet V trim, under headlight inlays, side view mirrors, side window trims, tail sidelights, door handles and boot inlay. I am not sure if all of these parts can be wrapped - in particular I've seem some videos where they've said the boot inlay has to be painted. Can anybody give me advice on this?
2. On the wheel powder coat, I'll need to get the wheel nuts and centre wheel caps in black as well (I assume these can't be coated). I'm struggling to find somewhere where I can buy these, and I don't know what the specs are. Again, does anybody have any advice?

Whilst I'm here (cold be wrong thread), coupe more questions:
1. Do I get adaptive cruise control, even though I don't have EAP? I think not.
2. Do I get dynamic turning lights? I think not.
3. And does the spoiler actively move, or is it just states? I think it's just in a fixed position?

Thanks very much in advance for your help.

Boot inlay can definitely be wrapped, I've attached a picture. Don't have advice on the center caps or nuts.

I think TACC is still offered even without autopilot, but I'm not sure. Adaptive lights do not swivel. Spoiler is fixed whether it's a 75D or P100D as of last year.

If you use the wheel specialists they will powder coat and also paint with matching cookout the center caps. With regards to nuts you can get plastic covers

I’m also planning on doing the same as yourself but agree not many places in UK I’m in the north west and also struggling.

Hi, thanks for this. Picture looks good, is this your car? I guess they've wrapped the boot inlay and then cut out around the TESLA lettering?

I wish I could get TACC without EAP but I don’t think it’s possible. I would pay money for it but I don’t know about the full 6k for all of EAP

Hi SamUK.

I live just a few miles from Ely and collect my 75D (red multicoat with cream and oak) on 3rd September!

I’ve had quotes from some local refinish specialists for painting and powder coating the wheels ranging from £75 per wheel to £120.

There are two schools of thought it seems:

1. Powder coating is technically the better option, but difficult to repair when you inevitably scuff them. They say it’s tricky to touch-up and colour-match.

2. Painting is cheaper, but not quite as durable although much easier and cheaper to touch-up when kerbed. This is the option I’ve decided on (I think!).

I’ve also had quotes for having the brake calipers painted red; varying from £40 to £100 (some are done in-situ, the more costly options involve them being removed).

I think you still get distance control with cruise even without autopilot. The wing is fixed other than on P versions, but I notice someone else on this thread has said the Performance versions are now also fixed.

I haven’t thought about chrome deletion but might ask one of the firms I contacted about bonnet protection for a quote.

I also have a pal that lives locally who does some wrapping as a sideline business; given that it isn’t going to be the end of the world if it goes wrong I might ask him to take a look too!

Happy to share contacts if you like.

Hi Hubster

Thanks for your reply. Good to know your local. You must be as excited as I am at getting a new Model X :)

I'm almost certainly going for wheel powder coating. I'm meeting up with the potential coater on 4th Sep to go through the process (with the car). I want to make sure that they have a robust coating process and understand any potential issues (I've seen that it's important the the hub and wheel nut faces aren't coated, and also that they deal with the tyre pressure sensors and re-balance wheels afterwards etc.). FYI they quoted £70 + VAT per wheel. I'll also ask about painting calipers.

I've lined up another company (in same area) to do the Chrome Delete, but again am meeting up with them first to go through the process. I plan to get bonnet v trim, fog lights, side indicator lights, side view mirrors, door handles and boot trim 3M black satin vinyl wrapped (I plan to leave the T logo's and hopefully TESLA lettering in chrome). No idea on price yet. FYI having looked on the RPM Tesla (US) site, they seem to have a lot of 'off the shelf' wraps that cover most (but not all) of the chrome parts - definitely worth a look. I'll discuss with company I'm talking to. The only bits they don't seem to see are fog lights and window trims.

Both companies are in Bury St Edmunds - I wanted to be able to get both pieces of work done in one week (I don't want to be without the car any longer!!). They've agreed in principle to move car from one site to the other - plan is that the wrap will be done done on a Monday then powder coat Tuesday to Friday, then I collect. Though this all depends on how my visits go - I don't think either have had experience with Tesla's - so should be interesting.

I'll let you know how it all goes.

Tesla's wrap the same as any other car. So there's not too much to worry about. With that said, the mirrors are the tricky part. Most will have to disasemble the mirrors, leave some chrome, or disable your folding mirrors. Good shops will take apart your mirrors and wrap all the way through; but in my experience they still rub. Some have had other experiences.

Everything can be wrapped. Some are available precut, some require a shop to cut on sight. The foglights can have chrome wrapped on the part that extends out onto the bumper, but the interior (behind the clear plastic) can't be wrapped unless you full disassemble the foglight itself.

They can be coated, there's no issues. If you do want to purchase, amazon has a bunch for several bucks. Tesla has some as well. We use 21mm lug nuts.

I think TACC is still offered even without autopilot, but I'm not sure.

TACC only comes with EAP. On a non-EAP/AP car, the cruise control is your regular dumb cruise control.

3. And does the spoiler actively move, or is it just states? I think it's just in a fixed position?

Fixed, active spoilers went away quite a bit ago and were never available on the 75D. They were only available on performance models officially, but some 90Ds got them as well.

This seems to be the case for most I’ve spoken too - but they’re all very keen to do one and get the photos for their Facebook pages!

Be great to hear how you get on; I haven’t yet had time to visit any of the companies I’ve contacted but hope to once I’ve picked up the car.
