New Owner Questions

I’m picking up my new model 3 RWD on Saturday 8/11. I’ve got my financing and trade in all lined up. But I’m wondering what to expect when I arrive. Our sales person said a Tesla rep will go over everything in detail with us and to expect to spend an hour with them. But the lady who called me said no more than 10-15 minutes. My guess it’s probably something in the middle.

Is there anything else I need to do before I get there? I know their radio service is Slacker Radio. Do I need to set up an account?

Besides the car what comes with it? Do I get a charging cable that will fit my 220 outlet that I had installed today? Also, does it come with an adaptor to fit other public chargers or do I have to buy that separate?

Is there a spare tire? Where is it? Does it come with floor mats?

Anything else I should know?

You don't need much. Of course if you have set up registration or financing with a co-applicant make sure they are present too. If its just you then no worries.

Make sure you watch plenty of videos or tutorials showing you how to use the car. Even if you didn't do this the car is so easy to operate / learn you almost can't go wrong. Well...just don't floor it while in the Delivery Center area as the car is fast o_O

My Tip:

1. Download the My Tesla App before you arrive to Delivery Center
2. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to your appointment
3. Open up your My Tesla App and log in...your car might be on it already!
4. Go and look for your car looking for config and vin number to match
5. Inspect...inspect....inspect

By the time you have your Delivery Specialist call or text you that they are ready for you...you my friend will already have taken care of your due diligence to inspect your car.

Good luck!

VERY GOOD ADVICE HERE.

I'd say watch the how-to videos first, and download the app beforehand. Great advice!

Then #3

Then ABSOLUTELY #5. Don't get rushed out the door. Take your time looking over the car. Look at the paint. (Chips, Scratches, Swirls, Curb Rash on the Rims) Look at the panels. (Alignment) Looks at the interior dash and consoles. Scratches, etc. If you see scratches on the screen, don't worry, there is a screen-protector on it... but Tesla is still a young company with growing pains. They have damage during shipping and some Q/C issues. Just make sure you are happy with it before driving away! :)
