The white house issues a response which documents their position. E.g. see:
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/responses

It's hard to say if any of them directly affected policy changes (obviously Texas did not end up seceding. DOMA on the other hand was overturned, but would have been anyway).

That will get the ball rolling. They might have a shot at this. Will be interesting to see what the response from the White House is if they make it. Taking on the dealership lobby is probably not something they want but there is no election coming up for them so why not?

Gotta love the logic. We can't allow a company to sell you a car because they will charge too much and you will still buy it. Is there a law to stop Mercedes from increasing the cost of the S class $10,000 on a whim too?
