New Repeater Side Cameras installed

Yesterday a Mobile Tech installed the new Repeater Side Cameras, cost $457. The image is much better, clearer, more contrast almost no JITTER and most importantly no more BLINDING from the turn signal flash at night. So if you drive at night it’s a great upgrade.

Now on to another upgrade. Has anyone gotten the Bio-Defense Mode Filter upgrade retrofitted?

Yes, my old cameras always displayed an ORANGE Hue, no longer. It looks as good as the rear camera now.

Do you have a comparison of the old vs the new side camera? Curious what the difference is.

Yes, my old cameras always displayed an ORANGE Hue, no longer. It looks as good as the rear camera now.

Ooofff. My 2022 MYP (built 12/2021) has side cameras which view reds a bit orangeish rather than red. The backup camera matches reality better. I assured the mid color action was helpful in computer vision.

It seems that there is an easy fix for it:

The blind spot camera on specific years of the Model 3 and Model Y can be blinded by the repeater LED at night.

It’s a design flaw. I watched a YouTube video how you can fix yourself. But it’s touch and go work. The cameras are sealed and it’s not that easy to get it right. For the money best to just swap them.

My 2022 MYP (built 12/2021) has rear side cameras which always produce images which are warmer and not true to reality. My rear view camera matches reality more closely. Is this normal? My cameras do not experience glare from turn signal.

This could be helpful if you run a red light, to show that the light was still orange...

This is normal. The side cameras are used in autopilot and operate in a different colorspace to aid the system. If there is a conversion back to how humans perceive color, this is as close as possible.

THIS orange glow when using the signal light should be cover under warranty. This is clearly a design flaw. I make an appointment for this, they came with the same invoice, but I will talk to the manager about it. I should not have to pay for them to correct it.

Would be nice. But good luck.

You can fix it yourself with a little work. There's YouTube videos showing how.

Well some people got them replaced under warranty. blind spot cameras glare.
