Burying a safety-critical item like wipers in a second tier, when it’s been first tier since the car has launched, is silly. At least let me put it back.
I don't completely disagree, but IMO anything on the touch screen can be considered 2nd tier. Tapping the wipers on a flat glass screen on a bumpy road while looking DOWN (I'm taller, but not tall).

The stalk, and 10-2 is the way.

Has nothing to do with wanting more buttons.

But if you’re going to give me a “flexible” app bar, at least let me put back the functions that occupied it previously.

And yeah yeah - voice control, single-wipe button, etc. I got that. Adjusting speed control quickly still matters, and when it does, I don’t want to be screwing around waiting for a second tier menu to open.

Genuinely curious what the hoopla is regarding wipers and headlights. I’ve left mine in auto since day one and have never manually turned them on/off. If I want to manually trigger them to clean the windshield I use the stalk. They come on automatically when needed, how is a button baked into the UI (which could freeze/fail in extenuating circumstances ) critical? Same with the lights.

Looks like it has some potential. I'll wait to see it in person before saying the icons lack aesthetics. Looks like a great update overall, but like others have said, more options for the customizable app launcher would be appreciated.

On my PLAID S I use the scroll wheel to adjust wiper speed/mode after pressing the wipe button on the yoke. Easy Not Buried. No touching screen at all.

Yeah I like mine in auto mode too, seems to work very well to me. If I want to manually do the wipers I just tap the button on the stalk but I've also used voice control too and it's been mostly effortless.

Has not been my experience at all with my car. Daytime the auto wipers work about 85% of the time in moderate to heavy rain. In light drizzle or at night that drops to well less than 50% of the time.

Oh absolutely, and on my X, I use the knob on the stalk. Also works fine - zero complaints there.

It’s on my 3 where I want immediate access ….

If you’ve ever been in a situation where, say, you drive under a bridge and a cascade of water falls, or a sudden summer storm pops up, the urgency of adjusting speed becomes obvious. The auto wipers make the wrong decision way too often. That’s not an indictment of Tesla’s system, mind you. My Cadillacs all did similar things.

But the point is … removing something in the name of flexibility, without giving me the ability to restore what was there, is just infuriating. Muscle memory is a real thing.

Yeah, mine will come on at night with certain streetlights (no rain). When it is raining, it is usually too fast/frequent for the amount of rain.

My Model 3 auto wiper hasn’t worked since October, and Tesla service concluded it’s a software issue. It’s fine if they want to bury the menu once it’s working perfectly, but it’s not fun constantly tapping the screen to change wiper speed during changing conditions when the auto wiper fails completely!
