I saw the new 21” sonic carbon twin turbine wheels on a new Model S at the Dublin, CA SC. Some people like them, others don’t. They remind me of deer antlers. Thoughts?

These new wheels kinda look like five guys laying down in a circle with heads together all linking arms and wearing Angels Flight pants...oh well, I already ordered a new S75D with'em so...I guess I will just have to like'em in person when I get'em... *ROLLEYES*

I think they look good and I dig the lug nut caps. It could have been implemented a little better maybe but still.

Still awaiting information on weight and construction method. :)

I am so sorry, Olds442. I did not mean to permanently etch that into your brain! Seriously, I like the twin turbines better than I did when I first saw them, but it’s difficult to improve on the original turbines (except of course if they were forged and 10 lbs lighter.)

what? you mean the 21" antlers? yeah they're cool, i kinda love them. i knew the rendering was kaputz and real life they would be legit. @HankLloydRight was all naysayer the sky is falling but i held fast that it was just a bad rendering. I kid hank!

i have a set of silver 21" turbines i'm thinking of letting go. i may keep them just because they're perfect with less than 600 miles on the tires and original to my old classic. but you know, if the right offer came along...

no i kid, i'm hanging on to them for a while. (tires are continentals, let me know )

Any answers to the previous Twin Turbine questions?
  • weight
  • construction method (cast or forged)
  • square and/or staggered
Love the look of our silver Turbines but need data to compare Arachnid vs. Twin Turbine vs. our existing Turbine wheels. :)

here is the info I received from my delivery advisor: "From the information I’ve seen the wheels are forged. Our parts department expects them to weigh the same as the previous variation. We haven’t been given any information concerning the wheels specification". It seems rather strange that I was "upgraded" to a new set of wheels but no specifications are available to review and compare.

Yep, still tapping my foot on these one. Need to know if forged and weight. If they're forged and lighter, I'll get them. If they're cast, I won't get them. Currently have bent 21 inch Turbines and not happy with them.

Aero dynamic? Turbines will go the «wrong» way on one side...

Will the Twin Turbines be directional (different rims on left and right)?

Here’s a good comparison between the new twin turbine and old turbine wheels:
