The Production Order page shows a new wheel pattern, the Helix. I looks like the Signature choices were between the Base and the Turbine. I ordered the 20 inch rims thinking that I was only loosing about $2k and that I could pick up a used set of Turbines if I changed my mind later. The loss is now about $4k and it may make more sense to place a change order for $500 and get the Turbines then buy the Base ( or new design Helix) later and sell the Turbines if I don't like them.

Could someone please post a picture of the Helix design on the X so that we can compare them?

    Thanks!

Someone who has full access to the Design Studio could probably do better, but here's a quick example.

These wheels were seen on a few of the mules too if you want to dig up that thread for real pictures.

I was expecting these to be the base wheels. For $2500 they have to be joking.

I like them. I prefer the look of the turbines, but there is no way I'm getting the 22"s after my experience with the 21"s on the S.

I agree that these wheels are not a good choice. They remind me of the rims on a 10 year old Honda Accord. Like the former Aero wheels on the Model S, I expect the Helix option to be gone shortly.

Ended up not being able to order the helix wheels, so it's the standard 20's for me.

agreed. coming from a car guy, the "Helix" design should have been the base wheel.

Could they have made a mistake or they had to offer them as the base wheel because they have more of these in stock and they will switch the helix to the base when there are enough of them produced?

Double dog agree. Those wheels are bland.

I hope Tesla keeps the current wheel set as the base, as those are the best looking 20" rims IMO. I don't know what they were thinking with those "Helix" rims, but I can't imagine too many people paying extra for them.

i'd speculate the "Helix" will flop like the Model S "aero" wheel.

For a $2500 upgrade fee? Um, yeah. Definitely.
