While we're answering newbie questions, are the destination chargers cheaper/free?

Most are free that I’ve used. Occasionally, they are in a fee-based parking lot and I’ve had to pay the parking charge to exit the lot.

Many are at hotel for guests and require check-in.

Free chargers are most often Tesla destination Chargers. 1772 style charger often have a credit card fee. You can view that on the PlugShare app.

So you need the apps, PlugShare, supercharge.info and the app ABRP, a better route planner.

Probably, while Tesla usually provides the hardware, the property owner is responsible for providing electrical service, usually as a condition of shopping/staying at that facility. But here's where things can vary, when we visit our kid's in southern MD near Dowell MD we sometimes stay at Hilton Garden Inn that shares the parking lot with a restaurant (Ruddy Duck), that has 4 Tesla Wall Connector chargers I called and asked if they were available to folks staying at the hotel, I was told YES but of course it was implied that stopping in for lunch/dinner would be appreciated. I also offered to pay for my charges but was told that's wouldn't be necessary, and that info isn't published in the remarks section on the info page or in PlugShare.

So there can be exceptions, but when in doubt call the proprietor.
