I think this deserves it's own thread. So apparently either a new software update has unleashed an additional 50 HP in the P90DL or newer P90DLs are putting out more power than earlier ones.

Previoiusly, P90DLs and P85DLs have been putting out in the mid 450 KW range.

This recent post with a confirmed and posted powertools log shows 494 KW hours at 58 MPH. This will be enough power to allow a 10.9 second 1/4 mile.

Max Power vs State of Charge and Temp

The last update that I see him referring to is 2.22.75.

The power increase could be related to this update.

According to this site, that update has been reported in a variety of different cars.

Since this update has occurred across multiple cars, not just P90Ds, it will be interesting to see what effects it has on them as well.

I have 2.22.75 and logged 433 KW at 90% yesterday without max battery which is what I usually see. I need max battery to be ready or I need to have just charged at a supercharge to see mid 450KW at 90%.

So if it's related to the update, it only allows extra power on the P90DLs. wk057 has said even 1500 amps is already past what the individual cell fuses should be pushed at.

    Makes sense.

Yeah, if it is related to that update, well then it would have to be limited to P90Ds.

Build date seems a little more likely than any recent OTA update.

This now has me wondering about the car that just ran the pair of 11.1s today.

With those trap speeds, it becomes the fastest car I've seen described in here.

Do you know what the build date on that car was?

Could Tesla be building new P90DLs, with heavier duty fuses, and having the update be specific to those cars that have that newer hardware?

Maybe the new P90Ds are actually software locked P100Ds.

I about fell off my chair when he casually mentioned 494 KW. I looked at his log and the KW rate of change vs speed appears about right. Amazing if true. I just hope it is software and not some new hardware. At the least, they should offer any hardware improvement to older P90DL owners since the car never met the 10.9 quarter mile spec.

I was waiting for a P100D before I upgraded my P85D. If this 494 KW gets a 10 second model S - no need to wait for the P100D.

Charged up the battery and went out for some fun tonight. At 100% SOC and max battery temp, Power tools recorded a high power output of 501kw during a 0-60 launch.

    See attached log file.

Another run at 100% SOC, only difference was slip start enabled and just stomped on the pedal (only got up to 497kw)

Did a few more, but that appears to be all she was willing to put out tonight....

wk057 sent me an email and told me he's logged 474kw on his P85DL at max battery. I think I might give 97% at max battery a try. I've only done max battery once and I think I started out at 91% with it dropping to 90% after the run.

Just to clarify, Jason's 474KW is from the BMS. I'm not sure it's equivalent to what you'd see in PowerTools or through the CANBUS interface.

Is this increase in power only applicable to the P line? Or does it also affect all other models?

Here is my battery sticker. P90DL built final week of May, 2016. Not sure how this compares to other packs....
