No. You don't have to sit in your car in a special position or orientation for the antenna to work. Also, I can throw an iPhone much farther.
I dunno, sometimes I think I need to be driving in a particular direction for the XM antenna to work.... So .. maybe? /Mitch.
After the 1 week trial, XM showed me what should have been the case all along: unnecessary and undesirable in my vehicle.
Too bad Tesla didn't go with Sirius for its satellite radio service. Infinitely more reliable...at least where I live.

In a nutshell why I am a Tesla guy, not an Apple guy despite the two being compared almost constantly. One company will inquire as to the nature of the issue and fix it if possible, the other will belittle you for having the gall to question their perfection.
