That's called "drifting". It's not actually a very fast way to take a corner, but it is fun and looks spectacular.
Handbrake turn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Okay I agree that was a hairpin turn... not clear to me that this would be the fastest way to take it though.
I think he was driving more for fun than speed. His buddy seemed to be shaking his head like "That crazy guy is going to drive the heck out of that Roadster."
What I especially loved was that the Roadster's so quiet that you can hear the beep from the VDS as it gives the warning that he was driving with the handbrake on.
