Ah. That's why they look like chrome handles. Looks like a round of east coast deliveries will be happening in the next two weeks. As I understand it, cars arrive by train to Chicago, then each delivery center arranges a trailer to bring the cars further East. I guess the NJ bound train/trailer has begun the process.
My sales person said my white/black/20/hitch/no FSD is on it's way to Springfield. I never received any notification on vin nor does it appear on my account, but she said the vin was 33XXX. Yay.

I have my pick up set for Saturday and I have not updated my insurance yet, was going to do it tomorrow. So not sure if it makes a difference on assigning the VIN itself.
Admitedly I did not know you could upload your existing insurance.
It's pretty much just a placeholder. When you actually have a scheduled delivery date, you'll have a VIN. When you get close to your delivery date, add the car to your policy, and upload the proof. Nowadays with everything online/electronic/PDF, it's pretty trivial.
