NJ EV rebate

Hello all. I have a question I wanted to ask everyone for a friend. He bought his M3 the day the $5k rebate ended in NJ, which was 12/15/20. So he should still be eligible for it. But, according to the program, they go by the date of the MVPA, and his was dated 12/16. Is he truly no longer eligible because of this or is there a way for him to still get that rebate? Thanks in advance!

That's really no one else here can answer. He would need to contact a representative of the NJ Tax Authority...

He is no longer eligible. Even if the date was 12/15, the online form filling had a deadline of March 15th which is now passed. Sorry. You can lookup the chargeupnj website for more details.

Hey, I’m in the same boat with the date discrepancy (12/15 vs. 12/16). Did your friend apply for the rebate before March 15th? Did they get any further clarification from NJ?

The NJ rebate is back, $5,000 for EVs up to final MSRP of $45,000 and $2,000 for up to $55,000, received at point of sale. It shouldn.t be hard to spec out a Model Y for the $2,000 rebate.

Is it still available? Is it the MSRP and not inclusive of destination and doc fees? Looking at an M3 that is 54,490 without the 1200 fees. Two grand off would be nice.

Hi Gang, as many dealers due to pandemic low inventory/supply chain/microchip issues are charging a premium above MSRP. Anyone have a clue whether it is the window sticker MSRP price (exclusive of destination charge) is the actual number to qualify to receive a rebate when (if) NJ Charge Up rebate program is renewed in new fiscal year?

It would seem that any “mark-up” wouldn’t fall under the MSRP cap since that’s a dealer by dealer choice. It would be similar to The destination fee or accessories. Of course, NJ will need to clarify in the new guidelines, but that’s what my logic says.
