No center screen but I could drive

Recently got update 44.X (I think it was 0 or 1).
After a clean install, a few hours later, I got into the Y.
The seat position adjusted for me, but the center screen was BLACK. Nothing.
I put it into gear, R, to back out of the garage and it let me. No rear view camera view.
I put it into D and it was going to happily let me drive down the road.
I tried pressing both scroll wheels, hoping that was a reset. Nothing.
I then decided to get out the phone and connect to the app.
Once the phone connected, the car woke up, the screen showed the Tesla logo.
after a few seconds, the center screen was fully functional.
Very strange.

Any ideas what happened?

This happened to me today as I was backing into a parking spot. Can't recall what software version I'm on, and car is down in the parking garage. Was backing in, using the cameras, and suddenly the screen went black! After about 10 seconds Tesla logo popped up and cameras came back shortly after. ‍♀️

The vehicle will drive just fine without the screen display, as long as there isn’t anything wrong with the drive system. The display shows what the car sees and is the user interface for some controls, but the car does not rely on the display to drive.

Ive had to reboot the MCU while driving before. All vehicle driving functions remains operational, with exception of autopilot.

From my experience it’s best to “reboot” using the scroll wheels and brake pedal after each SW update completes.
