Enjoying my Pearl White LR AWD with inductions

So after a number of angry texts, chats and emails, i just got word that they have agreed to refund my final payment until such time as they can deliver a vehicle, which they have no idea about right now. i had a confirmed delivery date of yesterday, and while people all over the place are getting deliveries or at least know their vehicle is at the delivery center waiting for procedures, apparently my vehicle was given away so they could make an easier buck. (the VIN is gone from my page, and the fact that they agreed to a refund confirms that the vehicle is no longer available)

this is not a good start. already have my charger installed, already turned in my prior lease last week because the date and all was confirmed. and that car was paid through June. it's likely to be the fall before they can build more vehicles.

ugh.

Don't understand their thinking, why would selling it to a different customer be making an easier buck? Wouldn't they make the same amount regardless who they sell to? I mean, I guess if somebody's financing it, they make a little bit more, but that's always not enough to warrant a pissed off customer. Don't understand the Tesla logic behind this.

Can understand your frustration, but you also have to consider the circumstances
oh if they had just emailed or texted, as we know they can, and told me what was going on, that would have been a start. but to give my vehicle away when they are delivering all over, and then think they will just keep all that money? what if i were making payments? they are not going to be able to produce more vehicles for probably 6 months! i'm still taking care of my clients, and my folks are all working from home. frankly they have more time than ever to return phone calls and such because people are not buying anything.

so honestly all these people who have nothing to do because no deliveries are happening should have plenty of time to at least make believe they care about happy customers.

me neither. as for it being easier, that part's easy. they are delivering in many other states either by drop off or touchless. AND they want to make their numbers for the quarter. so since in my case it most likely would have sat at the delivery center until after the quarter ends March 31, they would lose out on that revenue/sale in the quarter. so to heck with the customer, tesla needs to make elon look good.

but now, they are talking about a 12 week shutdown in california, and who knows what other interruptions to the supply chain. believe me i'm not trying to be a diva. but i turned my leased car in last week because they had given me a firm delivery date and taken my money. now i have to figure out what i'm gonna drive for 6-8 months, or just lease something else for 2 years and then see what's available.

I relatively certain there will not be a full lock down for 12 weeks. Most likely, after a few more weeks, manufacturing and businesses that don't have large public gatherings (i.e. theaters, restaurant) will start opening with new procedures in place to reduce the spread of the virus.

You make it sound like Tesla had your vehicle in New York and gave it to someone else in New York, but from No NY deliveries and NYC area delivery, it seems like all New York deliveries are on hold indefinitely. Yes, it's frustrating that Tesla didn't inform you sooner, but they were probably trying to still deliver your vehicle until they were forced to stop (not to mention conflicting information from various levels of government changing daily). If there was some loophole that they could still deliver your vehicle instead of redirecting it elsewhere, I would think that Tesla would have tried doing so as it would be "easier."

The alternative that you seem to want is for Tesla to hold on to "your" vehicle indefinitely until New York allows deliveries again. I understand it's also frustrating to need to update things for a new VIN, etc. but maybe it'll be better to get a newer production with the retooled manufacturing line.

I feel your pain, but 6 months before they can build cars again? They might as well shut the doors if that’s the case.

My VIN disappeared from my page too, and I’m selling my Volvo to Carvana next Tuesday, so I hear you, the uncertainty sucks. I’m working from home right now, but normally I’m on the road all week, kind of need a car for that.

My car was supposed to be delivered to my home this past Sunday. It didn’t reach Mt Kisco until Sunday, and there it sits. Tesla told me two weeks Monday. A lot has to due with the fact that NYS DMV is shut down, they cannot finalize the paperwork. Definitely sucks though.

I think the main issue is that the took his payment. He paid for the car, he owns it. Then it was just gone, and nobody proactively reached out to him and said "hey, we're sorry we can't deliver your car because of the state. We're going send the money back to your account until we find you a new car that we can deliver".

that's certainly an optimistic way of looking at it and i never really wanted an early production one anyway. but to do that when they have the money and a signed contract, without even asking, is just not good business. and it could well be 6 months or more, and they were going to just hang on to the money? what if i were making payments to a bank on that?

exactly. we're not talking $19.95 here... thanks

Definitely sucks, period. But I loved my 3 and can tell you having a Tesla is a joy so don’t give up too soon. I only sold my 3 as my wife has mobility issues and it was too low, going through withdrawals now...

And I say they’re in production within 3 weeks, 4 tops...

There's a lot going on. Tesla isn't out to cause harm.

Amazon is now 3-4 delay for most products, Best Buy is a week, all restaurants (here) have closed dining rooms and are take out and grocery supplies only, all my doctors have shut down indefinitely. And that's just the tip of things.

It's hard times and inconveniences for many.

Yep this virus has not been kind to anyone; it has not finished and may be just starting. Count yourself lucky so far. Money you can always make if you are alive to do so. Your location may make some a bit caution to send their employees into at this time. Welcome to the sh!t show; our new reality. Stay tough, stay optimistic. All are feeling the pressure right now and a bit of patience and good will towards others may go a long way at times like this. Just a piece of steel and we do not think they are looking to rip anyone off. Sh!t happens and with what is going on right now I would say you may have bigger fish to fry.

Tesla delivery specialist are absolutely not the best in communication. I had problems with communication with my M3 earlier this year, plus MY experience hasn't been the best either. Had an issue that I pointed out 6 days before the MVPA was produced. Only to have the error show up on the MVPA. Original delivery date was the 26th, now it is tentatively on the 30th.

All that being said, I'm definitely still getting the MY for my girlfriend & I love my M3.

Tesla's customer service at service centers have been great from my experience...a dumby driving a pickup smoked my in my driver door & the process has been smoother than expected. Parts were delivered in 2 weeks to the repair shop

I can't believe they get away with service / treatment of customers like this over a $50K+ purchase. A lot of excuses are made for Tesla - if always back stuffing the quarter wasn't so critical, there wouldn't be experiences like this where they just try and plug and play the optimal solution to pump deliveries. I'm glad you took a stand.

I’m sorry to hear. I’m afraid this is happening to me as well after the 3rd delivery delay. Sadly I paid in full.
