Coverage of George Clooney's response to offhand query on Tesla Roadster (tidbit from new Esquire article): Here’s the exchange (asterisks added by IBTimes): “Hey, where’s the Tesla?” I [Junod]said when I was leaving his house. I was just giving him sh**; I didn’t know if he had a Tesla or not, and was trying to see if even George Clooney was susceptible to Hollywood cliché. “I [Clooney] had a Tesla. I was one of the first cats with a Tesla. I think I was, like, number five on the list. But I’m telling you, I’ve been on the side of the road a while in that thing. And I said to them, ‘Look, guys, why am I always stuck on the side of the f***ing road? Make it work, one way or another.’ ” http://www.ibtimes.com/george-clooney-disliked-his-2008-tesla-tsla-roadster-so-much-he-dumped-it-charity-auction-1464770#.UoFdGxma8P4.email I think Danny Ocean would be very well taken care of in the newer system, Model S P+ and what not:wink:
Clooney had another EV that he liked better. It was about as wide as a motorcycle but with 4 wheels. When he sold his Roadster it didn't have many miles on it as I recall so he kinda gave up before he really gave it a chance.
Looks like it was called the Tango: George Clooney owns an EV (picture) | PriusChat Which looks like this one below, no that's not George.
Agreed - was also posted on the sales thread: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/9527-George-Clooney-selling-his-Roadster-for-charity-SOLD/page2 Not every vehicle clicks for every owner, and he kept it awhile regardless, but the author's use of that banter in the article loses whatever tone was there and is just a cheap way to move copy when there's a "negative buzz" feeding frenzy on Tesla. Those service complaints predate the current service system by a couple of years. When my Roadster was in the shop earlier this year I was a P85 loaner's first driver. And I don't make movies or have that many zeroes on my salary.
George had the 8th vehicle Tesla ever made in 2007. I think after 25,000 cars they have the bugs worked out.
And mine was made a few cars before his (Founder's series before Sig ) although I got it as 2nd owner. In almost two years of ownership, still no major complaints. Without a doubt I want to see continued commitment to supporting the Roadsters in the coming years (esp parts & "cool things" whenever possible), but I'm very happy with the service experience so far.
It may not look like much but it's 0-60 and 1/4 mile are comparable if not faster. Some sites say 3.2s 0-60, and 12s 1/4 mile. Top speed is 240km/h... Commuter Cars Tango - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Commuter Cars - The Tango, ultra-narrow electric car for commuting; 0-60 in 4 seconds
The Tango is definitely goofy looking, but the fast version of it is definitely fast. Here's a Tesla Roadster drag racing a Tango Tesla tangles with Tango EV on dragstrip, loses - YouTube Here's a crazy autocross video where it looks like it should tip over. It has a lot of weight in the bottom of it because it uses lead acid batteries, so it actually has a really low center of gravity. Tango Autocross - YouTube
Its rather wild and can do a burnout. The maker says you can lane split in that thing. tango electric car - YouTube
I think it looks like a fish from the movie "FINDING NEMO" although I did like the movie. I tried to buy Clooney's car. It had about 1500 miles on it. It sounds like he didn't pay too much attention to keeping it charged..................DUH!
Awesome. Oh wait, is the iPhone 1 still supported? Doh! http://nypost.com/2013/05/01/apple-to-cut-support-for-obsolete-first-generation-iphone/ (Ok, it's like that if the iphone 1 were still supported...and had something cool coming in '14. And stuff:wink
