Noise from rear of car

Most of the noise I hear in my 2019 M3 MR seems to come from the rear end of the car.

Anyone else notice this?

It's kind of a roaring noise. I think it is mostly tire noise. Tire noise varies greatly according to the pavement type. On concrete it is terrible. On rubberized asphalt not so bad but I would still like it to be quieter.

sound deadening the trunk will help its basically a giant echo chamber. i only installed dynamat and theres still a difference

As a counter, I used dynamat on ever inch of the trunk space and in the doors and notice no difference to be honest.

really? thats interesting it seems quieter on most roads to me but the roads in bad condition sound the same. debating whether i should add mlv but i dont want to add any more weight

Check rear alignment. Making the toe close to zero on my car really quieted down my tire noise significantly.

Yea, I was hoping it would cut down on all of the resonant sound from road noise but I don't notice nor could I measure any difference in dB. I thought sound deadener would get rid of most of the booming noise and didn't want to add the extra cost, work, and weight of a MLV layer on top of that but I think that is what is required to actually make the car quieter.

The materials didn't cost very much but it was pretty labor intensive. It was a good quarantine project but I would've been really upset if I paid a shop a ton of money to do it.
