Just conjecture here... Battery packs lining the bottom of the trailer, 1000+ miles. Powered by trailer battery for long hauls. Driver and tractor do not need to wait for charging. Just hook up to new loaded recharged trailer and go! Network of Tesla Semis at hubs trailer gets charged and moved on to next stop. Drivers can only haul for 14hr straight so hubs can be spaced according to that.

The truck will be the mystery SpaceX Falcon Heavy payload and it will be landed in one piece on Mars where it will demonstrate AP 3.0(t) on the surface. Then it will then autonomously off load the Boring Company machine on its trailer which will dig a 100 km tunnel for the truck.

All this will happen coincident with the start of Model 3 mass production.

Only problem with that is that the old trailer would need to be unloaded and everything would need to be loaded into the new trailer. Maybe the trailer and the base it rides on are separate, and some kind of crane moves the trailer to a new base?

I am definitely thinking some kind of battery swap will be involved, along with leases on the batteries that include swaps. That'd keep the upfront cost of the truck down, with "fuel" costs becoming just the cost of the lease.

Drivers can haul for 14 hours straight?? In Europe it's 4.5 hours I think (with a 45 minutes minimum pauze) - that's obviously a different business case, in terms of battery size/charging speed...

From a quick search earlier today, I believe it is up to 11 hours of driving within a 14 hour period, which needs at least 10 hours separation from the next 14 hour period. It seems like Tesla can match this amount of drive time with room to spare.

By lining the bottom of the trailer they can be hot swapped. We shall see very soon! :)
