Just came across this article and apparently this is becoming common practice overseas... hopefully it happens at New Zealand.


Would most likely be trickle charge rate. Looks like you would need your own charging cable too, and I am sure there would be people who would mess with these. Overall, though a good idea.

Yeah trickle charge in some cases and potentially faster in some where they have those white boxes displayed... regardless, car getting some charge when parked might be exactly what some people with no home charging option would need... and one would hope that it's cheaper than ChargeNet, if not free altogether - for those cost conscious users.
 
Same in the UK, lamp posts have a blue light on them which means you can plug in. Just trickle charge but solves a lot of problems with people who park on the street.
Do they combine parking charges with Charging car? anything is better than nothing, specially when more and more cars becoming BEV, PHEV... this option would be all ever need for PHEV.
