obvious honeytrap website (no content, but the apache webserver logs will record your visit, and where you came from).

Honeypot? Are you f'n kidding me? Every freaking website tracks and logs that information. And now with increased HTTPS security settings, HTTP_REFERRER is rarely sent anymore. Elon did not post the link to his own blank website just to honeypot people.

, the registration of which expires soon (June 25, 2022). Is that enough to warrant a revival of this spectacular thread? ;)

The fact that expires soon means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I track many dozens of domains for their expiration, and most of them are on an annual renewal plan and renew just before the expiration date for another year, as I'm sure this one will too.

No, it's not enough to warranty a revival of this spectacularly idiotic thread.

Why does Elon do anything he does? He's a freaking nutball. That doesn't mean it "means" anything.

I beg to strongly disagree. Everything he says he meant to mean something, even if it is nothing - note, nothing is in fact the root of everything.

[OT] If you don't "get" that last sentence, feel free to ignore, even at the risk of not reviving this IYHO idiotic thread.
BTW nothing *is* the fundational root of mathematics, for starters.

Well well, 'Stock split secured'. :D Now the question is, "how close to June 25th?"

You'd have to expect the AGM timing to revert to the 1st week of June. Then the S.S. could be announced anytime thereafter. I'd wager August-ish for the split, soon after the Q2 10-K is published, to align w. Elon's final tranche from the 2012 comp. plan (enabled if Tesla can maintain 30% Automotive gross margin).

So a SS announcement in late-June or early July if they want to do the S.S. soonest. Or, they could repeat the timing from 2020 S.S. which was announced on Aug 13, and took effect on Aug 31.

Overall, this guessing exercise has been quite enjoyable, and I'll be very glad to see Tesla integrate upcoming S.S.'s over the next 6 years (2028), timed to match Elon's stock options. That will provide strong support for the SP during these brief periods of sales. :)

Cheers!

I don't see any reason they can't announce a record date and split "conditional on stockholder approval of increasing authorized stock" before the actual annual meeting. It obviously can't complete before the AGM, but I don't know how long after it would have to be. And when you think about it, both the AGM and the split require a record date, so why not make them the same?

There isn't any reason they can't do that.

And they even mention more details will be in the proxy statement (which I've seen reported must go out by 5-2 but haven't checked that)

Yeah, I like that idea but I'm still hopeful Elon will earn his final tranche (we won't know until the 10-Q, but Tesla will know by mid-July-ish). Then Tesla could use the split as an opportunity to support the SP with induced buying (a.k.a. forced short covering) while Elon executes his options. I know, it's a lot to hope for...

All this breaks down if Options Market Makers cover their naked shorts between yesterday and the day the split takes effect, but of course we will NEVER know to what extent this happens. It's the Black hole of Calcutta Wall St. ;)

Cheers!

He can't know for sure that the release date is 8/20, so is there some numerology I am missing?
Why can't he? Maybe it just needs the final testing?

As to knowing for sure the release date? Our management has always gotten their bonus for deploying new software on schedule. But only because they forced the deployment before it was actually ready. (And in some cases didn't even really work at all, but it had been deployed to production, so bonus secured.)

I think they're talking about etymology.com, which also renewed.
