Octopus Go vs Standard Variable Rate after price cap increase

It proves something is still going on with octopus rolling the old rates forward until October.

It will be interesting to discover when we stop seeing this. I suspect it's a system issue.

Not so sure, I requested them to keep me on the old tariff then I got the confirmation saying my electricity tariff will remain the same (expecting off peak to be 5p rather than 7.5p) but their gas tariff has definitely tripled!

I'm keen to hear, going forward, when someone doesn't get an extension on the old rates.

Mine finishes on 28th May 2022... but by then the Summer Solar will take over anyways until end of September...

Staying on the old rates will definately keep me with Octopus Go

I can't see that forum.

But for those on Go who have ignored the renewal email....on here people have rolled into the old rates until at least October. As has been posted on here.

OK the tldr is that people are getting renewals at the new rates, Octopus "fixed" the autorenewals on old rates in January, and some are still slipping through.

So the trick is to find the anomaly and use it. So far it looks like those on this forum hit the anomaly rather a lot.

Hence keen to hear going forward what people are seeing.

I’ve been notified that mine goes to 7.5p & 30.7p in October this year but I will have enjoyed 2 years at the lower rate.

I received an email.
However I may have been triggered by my questions re what happens to my tariff after I’ve installed solar that means I will only then use off peak.

Just put your postcode into the quote generator and that's the rates you'll be moving to.

That the price of electricity is proportionately up less than gas maybe ? (+34% vs +81% for the per kWh cost under the cap. ). Or in my case up less than the price of hearing oil.

Just ask them to keep you on low tariff or your current tariff, they mostly oblige. The trick is not many people ask them what they want!

Whilst that might have worked in the past, this is what happens now.

I think the new rates start from 4th January 2022

So if your previous Go Rate renewed before this date, then you're on the old rate.

If you renew after this date, I think you're on the new rate

My rate was renewed to same old rate on October, but valid only up to the end of March 2022 ;Z
