ODB2 adapter impossible to fit in the center console space

hi all,

I recently joined the model Y family with a 2021 performance purchase. I had a ODB2 device on my old car and I've been trying to get it working on my new model Y.

after watching the video from MTN Ranger, I ordered this adapter from amazon:

installation matches the video linked above and nothing really surprised me until the last step: putting the case back on and it's simply impossible.

the adapter and the existing wires cannot bend more to fit in the space there.

googling around and I could not find an adapter with shorter wires.
I believe there's a better solution than brute-forcing the last step and I'm sure similar problems have been addressed by the amazing folks here before.
Can someone share with me what's a good alternative?

many thanks in advance!

I disconnected the blue connector from its mounting point to gain slack in the system, and stuffed excess wiring (I had a different patch cable with lots of wire) down under the carpet so it was not actually in the area where the cover has to close over it. Your patch cable has really short wires, so just dismounting the blue connector and moving it to the right should allow you room to push the left connector down and put the cover on.
